Many districts are siting the students inappropriate use of social media as a reason NOT to incorporate technology into their curriculums. Here is a workable solution to those schools who wish to proceed. From experience with children, we know it is more effective to teach how to deal with a "hot topic" than it is to ban it. N.J. may mandate social media behavior lessons for middle-school students
Lawmakers in New Jersey are considering legislation that would make lessons on the proper use of social media mandatory for students in middle school. Under the legislation, passed by the Assembly this week, students also would learn about cybersecurity and the prevention of cyberbullying. The Record (Hackensack, N.J.) (5/20)
