Info from e-School Supports Our Literacy and Technology Work!

Project-based learning in the classroom
With employers looking for graduates who can communicate effectively, think critically, and solve problems in collaboration with other team members, more and more schools are looking to project-based learning as a way to better prepare students for these demands. Besides helping students develop the same 21st-century skills that employers covet, project-based learning also helps students retain the information they learn, proponents of the approach say--and it engages students' interest and motivates them to learn.

Literacy and Technology Meeting Held on January 8th!

This year the literacy and technology committee is focusing on what it means to collaborate in the 21st century.  In numerous studies, researchers have found that collaboration will be one of the fundamental strategies citizens will need to be armed with in order to compete for employment as well as make informed life decisions.

With this in mind, our committee met to continue work on developing a rubric to measure classroom collaboration - reflecting 21st century expectations: technology use, cultural literacy, global awareness, and the development of collaborative strategies.

The day was full of laughter and amazing insights:)

We will publish our rubric as soon as we have tried it out in classrooms.

Stay tuned!
